Recap

For those of you wanting to hear my LHE beats, sorry because I'm not going to relive that experience. Basically we played a 5 hour craps session and I was the DD so I was stuck hanging around my drunk roomies who later decided to play limit holdem with 4 old nits who were sitting just talking at the table waiting for a 5th person to join so they could play in hopes of winning the bad beat jackpot. The only reason we played LHE was because we had like 2 hours to blow before the breakfast buffet opened up that we got comped for as a result of our craps play. It was miserable.

I hate shortstacking with about as much passion as LHE. We came up with a $40/person prop bet in the house to see who could make the most money shortstacking NL200 over 2500 hands. I decided to play really loose in hopes of making a bunch right away and then tightening up, but I ended up losing $520. I would love to have those 3 hours of my life back. I have no clue how the ratholers do it. Every second that I was mindlessly clicking buttons I wanted to bust a Heineken bottle over my head and slit my wrists.

PLO is fun though...because I won at it! On Friday I went to Excalibur to play .5/1 PLO with my roomies and two of Ringer's cardrunners friends. The table got really deep really quick as money was flying all over the place, and pretty soon I had a $600 stack. I then doubled up FantasticDonk w/ my AAxx vs. his KT98ds which got allin preflop when we were 170BB's deep. Right before we quit I picked up 8s7d6s5c and raised UTG, got 3b, the super LAG on my right called, and I called obv. The flop came down 5s4s3d and I ended up getting it allin with superLAG who only had a bare Q high flush draw. My hand held and I ended the session up $550. On the way home we had the taxi cab driver stop at Walmart so we could buy Guitar Hero World Tour and we ended up playing that until like 7AM. I slept all day and woke up with the most ridiculous hangover thanks to all the wine I had the night before. I had started drinking whatever wine Cow ordered at the Italian restaurant we went to, and then continued drinking the house red wine at the Excalibur, which was quite disgusting but pretty strong so it did the trick at least. Anyway, I lounged in the pool for a while then went back to sleep, and woke up to my roomies wanting to go to the club Drais. We got a table there and it was pretty cool, although definitely not as nice as Tryst or Moon, but it is open until like 11AM. That works for my sleep schedule, which lately has been wake up at about 6PM, go to bed at 9AM. Gotta love Vegas.

On the online poker front, I'm having a pretty good month (knock on wood) but I have only played about 30k hands. I have been playing a bit more 6max lately as a result of not many FR tables running on Cake and it's been going very well. Honestly, I think the regs at 6max are worse than the FR regs. I think one thing that's really been helping me out is being able to verbally talk about poker with my roomies. I wish I had that opportunity back home because it's so nice to look at a HH and speak my mind, which a lot of times leads to me answering my own question. Not to mention how enlightening it is hearing other people's opinions on hands or situations and being able to talk things through to determine what the best option is. Anyway, I'm going to take a short nap before we golf today. Gee I can't wait to golf in 100 degree weather while trying to best my 123 that I shot last time, and trying not to completely donate my $100 that apparently I have to wager on the game. Whoever is not on my team is getting some free money, that's for sure.

So....I'm Going To England

I woke up with a huge hangover this morning, hit my snooze twice, then finally rolled out of bed in time to play the two freerolls on RTR at noon that were for $7k EPO packages. I'm so thankful that I actually played a freeroll for once because I ended up final tabling both of them. The one with 150 entrants was winner-take-all and the one with 55 entrants gave packages to the top 3. I ended up busting in 7th place in the winner-take-all with 99 vs. A2o, which was unfortunate because that would've been for one of the biggest stacks at the table. We got to 4 handed in the other tourney and I had 35k in chips at like the 300/600 level and was the chipleader. We got one guy down to where he was playing with 2-5BB's but he survived 3 allins against 2 or 3 of us calling him down at the same time. Pretty soon I was one of the shortstacks with 10BB's and luckily I survived to make it to the top 3. Weee......ship the $7k package, of which I'll get $1700 of up front for expenses and then they'll pay my way into the $5k+300 event. I'm thinking about touring Europe for a week or so after the tourney since I've never been and this provides a great excuse to go. I think I'm more excited about knowing I'm going to Europe in a few months than about the money that I won.

Yesterday was an awesome day too; I booked a +1400 session at 1/2 and 2/4 in 1k hands, so obviously I was running super hot. Then we went to the Palms and played craps before going to the club, and I won $435 there. When we walked up to the craps table, we noticed one of the tables was surrounded by a camera crew and a bunch of African American guys. We're like wtf are the cameras for, and then we realized that it was the infamous TO (Terrell Owens for you football illiterate people), and I guess he's filming a reality show or something, which is ironic because they weren't even playing for real money. We also saw Jack Nicholson at the food court...he was getting Panda Express for anyone who cares. After craps we headed to the Playboy Club and Moon, which have AMAZING views of the strip. Moon was a pretty sick club, even though the girl to guy ratio was pretty terrible. So anyway, this week has been pretty fantastic, and hopefully this next week will be the same.

You know you suck at both golf and bowling when...

...your golf score is higher than your bowling score. I went golfing with Ricky and Ringer at 7:45 in the freaking morning on Tuesday and put up a solid 123. I hate that game. I hate bowling too, when we went this weekend I bowled like a 100 average, which didn't win me any money.

VinnyVT asked after my last post if we've even been playing any poker while we're out here...and the answer is yes. I've played around 14k hands online this month and it's going really well. I feel like I've been playing great except for one pretty tilty session. I've also played several live sessions with my last few being sessions at 2/5 at the Rio, which went really well. It's amazing how bad the players are there, and apparently they aren't much better at 5/10 so I plan on taking a shot at that game once I build my live roll up to about 5k. I also started playing chinese poker with Tiltbad, Coordi, and Cow the other night, which was my first time playing. We decided to play for $1 a point and I finished the night up about $20, but it will be a continuous game throughout the summer so we'll just keep tabs on it. I played video poker the other day at the bowling alley while waiting for it to be late enough for $1 bowling, which is pretty sad seeing as how we're all making a ridiculous hourly but are too nitty to pay $6/game instead of $1/game. Anyway, I had determined that video poker was unbeatable, until today when I met a professional video poker player. I guess with the comps the casino gives him he has like a 0.25% edge on the casino...lol swongs much?

Today we had a cookout at our house and about 25 other 2+2'ers, mainly full ring players, showed up. Somehow I got stuck with grill duty again and worked my magic on a lot of hot dogs and hamburgers, but I managed to burn the hell out of some ribs. I've never tried to grill ribs before, but apparently you don't put the BBQ sauce on them right away (wasn't my idea). Two of Ringer's friends were working everyone in cornhole the entire afternoon, and during one of our games against them I gave George 5:1 on $10 that he couldn't sink his last bag. He had previously missed the board on his first 3 shots and I'd just watched him shotgun 2 beers, but apparently he's really really clutch when money is involved because he sank the damn thing. Then I lost $5 to Tiltbad playing ping pong. And another $10 to Cow at ping pong. Today was not a successful day for propbets.

Yesterday was a different story though. Last week I flipped Cow on FTP for his roll of $41 and he won, then we flipped again and he lost. He was obviously still upset about losing his roll that he had worked so hard to grind up at the microstakes one day (he really plays 5/10), so yesterday he wanted to do a real life PLO flip for $41. I won. Then he wanted to do one for $82. I won. He kept increasing the amount so that if he won the flip I would owe him $41 and eventually he was stuck like $650 to me. I wanted to walk away then, but I told him I'd flip him one last time since I kind of felt bad that he was stuck that much but if he got stuck over $1k to me then that was his problem haha. He binked two pair on the last of his cards that he flipped over, which was better than my two pair. FML. We then started doing 4 way $100 PLO flips and I ended up making $300. Ship ship!

Degeneracy: What A Beautiful Thing

$10 that your friend can't get that group of girls back to our house tonight. $10 that Cow and Ringer's HU poker match at O'Shea's lasts longer than 7 minutes. $10 on who can knock down the most pins at Wii bowling. $20 on real bowling matches. $100 if you have sex with an 18 year old. $10/ball in pool; who cares if your teammate doesn't even know how to rack the balls? $20 on hard ten please. That's just a few samples of the kind of gambling that has been going on in the past week.

The other night we decided to go to Gold Coast at 3AM and I wasn't too enthused because I knew there would be prop betting and I suck at bowling. Luckily Ringer gave me a helpful pointer...it's all about the follow-through and not so much about flinging the ball as hard as I can hoping that it goes straight and knocks the shit out of the pins. I bowled an 83 the 1st game, a 102 the 2nd game, and a 136 the third game. I had $30 riding on the 3rd game, in which Cow and I bet straight up and I won, and Ringer gave me 55 pins which I didn't even need because I beat his ass straight up (he bowled a 127...I know this b/c I took a picture for documentation purposes).

Also, I've mastered the game of craps. I'm not going to give you all my secrets because I'm obviously writing a book, but basically I bet the don't pass line and be really loud and obnoxiuos at the table yelling for sevens. At the Palms the other night I started doing this and my roomies joined in and we ended up running everyone else off, which was fine because we all killed it. Last night at Bill's I made $325 pretty quickly doing this ($25 on don't pass, $150 when I can put my 6x odds down), and then later came back to the tables again. Cow wanted half my action so I let him take it like a fool...and I proceeded to win $700 so I got to keep $350. Oh, and I did hit that hard ten bet btw...ship the $160!! I felt pretty good about being up $575 for the night (should've been $675 but Coordi lost me $100 playing roulette when we split action), but as we were leaving Bill's I figured I may as well try to run my profit up to something a little bigger...so off to roulette to put $400 on black. I was a little sad when it rolled off red, but meh it's only money...they print more every day right? It's all good because on the way out from O'Sheas I put $200 on black and won, finishing up $375 in table games for the night. Since I've been here I'm up a sick amount from table games, but I'm sure that luck will change soon. Hopefully I won't end up like TJ Cloutier, whom we saw playing $15 craps the other day at the Rio even though he has like $5 million in tourney cashes and is rumored to have lost it all at craps.
