Cirquemsized Poker

Veronica had penciled me in on her calendar for tonight, so waking up at 1pm I looked online to see what kind of cool things there were to do in Indy on a Thursday night. I was debating going duck pin bowling or ice skating after eating, then came across an ad for the Cirque Du Soleil Saltimbanco show. I decided that we were going to that, with her consent of course :) We didn't have time to eat before so we just ate junk food there, which was quite tasty. We had brats, pretzels, and frozen custards...probably dusting off 1500 calories each. Our tickets were in the 13th row at Conseco Fieldhouse, which put us eye level with the show and very close. I can't even adequately describe how good the show was using words, but it was an awesome mix of standard circus acts like juggling, trapeze, and gymanstics with dance, live music, and comedy. If you get the chance to see it, I would definitely recommend spending the money. Here's a taste:

So that was a fun date. On the drive home I was debating on whether I wanted to "work" or not when I got home. I was in such a good mood and didn't want to ruin that by having a bad night at the tables. I hopped on Cake and checked out the 1/2 games and they looked absolutely horrid, so I looked at 2/4 and they looked ok. Nothing spectacular, but definitely playable. I got on all 8 tables and played for a while, ending the session up $430 after 1300 hands. Here are the big hands:

1.) Brickity brick brick. At least I wan't playing scared eh? I'm still not sure about my turn shove against a player who I know nothing about, but he did time all the way down before calling so I definitely had fold equity to go along w/ my 32% to win.

4.) Mr. Gingers berated me after this one. Basically he said "nice call preflop". After the hand, SB said he had 88 and I most certainly believe him. Thanks for donking the flop dumbshit and ruining the action...grrr it's irritating that I had to shove...it's one of those spots where no matter what I did it looked strong.

6.) Well I knew when he calls the flop he either had Qx or AA or KK, so the turn and river didn't look too great. Well the river looked ok obviously haha, but I mean I would've much rather seen an 8 roll off. When he checked I had to put out one of those value bets where I'm sitting there thinking "Oh please have QJ or QT and not the rest of your range, don't shove don't shove!"

Ok that's enough hands. So it wasn't a spectacular session or anything, but I felt like I played pretty well, wasn't playing scared, and I definitely got my feet wet playing bigger pots. I did learn that there is no way I'm going to be able to check my account balance while playing 2/4 and keep my sanity because the swings in terms of monetary value are just ridiculous. Well hopefully this weekend's continued shot at 2/4 goes well, but that's all for now. I'm off to play some xbox before heading to the Y for my 5:30AM basketball.

Funny how the 400nl tables looked better than 200nl. I think the 67 hand was pretty standard to ship it in. I think the 44 hand with the set the river shove was out of line. Just my opinion and I dont have the experience or expertise you do!

If you like the Cirque show, when you make it out to Vegas make sure you go see LOVE at The Mirage. It's absolutely amazing.
